Dear Mr. Secretary General,

We deeply appreciate your message of condolences at the loss of life and property caused by the terrible earthquake that recently struck the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Your expressions of concern and solidarity with the victims of this natural calamity are a source of solace to us.

The destruction caused by the earthquake in the South Asian region has been on an unprecedented scale. Presently intensive efforts are underway to provide relief to the victims and also, to address the gigantic task of restoration and rehabilitation.
